Click here to apply to host a GLORIA symposium during your upcoming meeting.

WAO is currently accepting applications from WAO Member Societies to host a GLORIA presentation in 2009. Please read below to understand the unique structure of GLORIA, your role as a Member Society and to apply to host a symposium.

GLORIA Program Structure

To host a GLORIA symposium, WAO Member Societies apply 6-12 months in advance of a national member society meeting. A GLORIA symposium typically draws attendance of between 200-800 people.

World Allergy Organization (WAO) Role

  • Provide a speaker and cover their airfare costs at the National Member Society meeting
  • Provide GLORIA materials electronically for all participants at nationally and locally-organized GLORIA symposia
  • Collect and tabulate feedback from attendees of the GLORIA session(s)
  • Circulate feedback to Member Societies, WAO Board of Directors and International GLORIA Sponsors
  • Provide support to the Member Societies and Local Sponsors

WAO Member Society’s Role

  • Schedule GLORIA for a minimum one (1) hour unopposed session within the first two days of the meeting
  • Download the Syllabus Book(s) for local printing and distribution to delegates at the time of the Symposium
  • Circulate and collect evaluation forms to be returned to WAO
  • Mention WAO in your meeting program as the "sponsor" of GLORIA and provide the opportunity to distribute WAO general information during the meeting
  • Arrange for a small meeting room following the GLORIA presentations for 30-45 minutes so that the GLORIA Faculty member can meet with your society's leadership
  • Provide complimentary registration for the GLORIA Faculty member
  • Provide meals, hotel accommodations and ground transfers for the GLORIA Faculty member
  • Establish a relationship with the GLORIA Local Sponsors (pharmaceutical company representatives in your country) and encourage them to incorporate this global program into their local educational programming throughout the year
  • Oversee translation efforts into your country's primary language
  • Incorporate recommendations from the GLORIA materials into new or existing guidelines for the management of allergic diseases in your country as appropriate
