President's Message

Ruby Pawankar, MD, PhD
WAO President

Dear Friends, Dear Colleagues

Warm greetings from the World Allergy Organization!

While this landmark of 60 years was celebrated last year both at the XXII World Allergy Congress in Canún and via a series of articles that comprise part of the WAO History, the beginning of the 61st year should also be a time for some degree of self-reflection. While moving forward over the years to fulfill the mission of WAO, we need to ask ourselves how far we have progressed in meeting our objectives. Are we benefiting the millions of patients with allergies and asthma worldwide through our various outreach activities? Venturing into making this purpose a reality in the current global scenario, we truly need to increase our efforts towards education and capacity building and provide cutting edge information in our specialty at a global level. Call for Translators

WAO is looking for volunteers with a strong command of the English language to translate the monthly "WAO Reviews" into their local languages (past experience preferred). The "WAO Reviews" consists of at least one review of a medical book and a list of recommended recent scientific journal articles of interest to allergists/immunologists.

Translators are needed for the following languages:

German, Chinese, Italian, and Korean

Look for examples in the Reviews & News section of the WAO website.

What's involved? Simply translate the text file you are sent each month following the broadcast of the WAO News & Notes electronic newsletter. The reviews translation needs to be completed within three weeks of receipt of the file. That's it!

If you would like to be considered as a translator, please send your CV to: banderson@worldallergy.org. Thank you for your interest.
