UPCOMING JOINT MEETINGS
Emerging Societies Program, Moscow, 17-18 September
The Emerging Societies Program (ESP), a joint initiative of the WAO and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI), aims to disseminate information on and share experiences about new treatments for allergic diseases and about new indications for available therapies. In September, the ESP will collaborate with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Society of Immunology and Allergology to host an ESP Delegates Meeting and World Allergy Training School in Moscow, Russia. Over 30 Participants from around the CIS Region will attend.
The ESP Delegates Meeting is a half-day meeting on 17 September, with 1 representative from each CIS country presenting to a group of peers and WAO Leaders. The purpose of the meeting is for WAO and ACAAI to learn more about the challenges faced in countries/regions where the specialty of allergy is either non-existent, or is developing, and how WAO can best assist these efforts.
The main objective of the full day World Allergy Training School (WATS) on 18 September is to develop learning communities, appropriate to a specific regional context, which will help build sustainable capacity in the field of allergy by strengthening already existing knowledge and skills and encouraging local experts to apply this knowledge to further develop the specialty of allergy and to widen the provision of patient care. The World Allergy Training School is for allergists /physicians /general practitioner /researchers with a background in allergy and immunology.
