There currently are 7 allergy/immunology societies from the region of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region that have joined WAO as Member Societies: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, and Ukraine. This strong representation reflects the increasing interest in the specialty from the CIS region on the part of physicians of all disciplines, and it is an honor for WAO to provide opportunities for clinical and scientific exchange. This month I am pleased to share news about several accomplishments in the CIS region, including the successful WAO Emerging Societies Program (ESP) Delegates Meeting and World Allergy Training School (WATS) recently held in Moscow as well as the launch of the new Russian edition of the World Allergy Organization Journal. 2011-2013 WAO House of Delegates Meeting in Cancún, México
The WAO House of Delegates Meeting will take place on 7 December 2011, during the XXII World Allergy Congress (WAC 2011) in Cancún, México, 4-8 December. Officially appointed 2011-2013 Delegates will receive the meeting invitation and additional details. This will be a closed WAO meeting (by invitation only).
All invited delegates have a seat and a voice in the House of Delegates Meeting; however, only National Member Societies with Good Standing status maintain voting privileges. First WAO-CSA Joint Symposium, China, October 2011
WAO has been honored to collaborate with the Chinese Society of Allergology (CSA) for the first WAO-CSA Joint Symposium in conjunction with the Biannual Scientific Meeting of the CSA in Chengdu, China 15-16 October 2011.
WAO sends a special Thank You to the WAO faculty; Professors Motohiro Ebisawa, Connie Katelaris, Hae-Sim Park, Ruby Pawankar, and Lanny Rosenwasser, for their presentations on a wide range of topics which were featured as live English-to-Chinese translations.

WAO-ERS Joint Symposium, Amsterdam, 28 September 2011
Thank you to the more than 500 delegates who attended the ERS-WAO Small Airways Joint Symposium, “Why are small airways important in asthma?,” presented during the 2011 ERS Congress in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 28 September.

Oral Abstract and Poster Sessions Now Listed in the Online Scientific Program!
The WAC 2011 Scientific Program Committee is pleased to announce that Oral Abstract and Poster Sessions have been programmed for WAC 2011. The 693 abstracts from 67 countries that have been accepted can now be viewed in the Online Scientific Program.
To emphasize the importance of research by WAC 2011 delegates, all abstract sessions have been scheduled during the lunch hour on 5, 6 and 7 December. No other sessions will take place during this time.
