World Allergy Day WORLD ALLERGY DAY 4 DECEMBER 2007

World Allergy Day 2007 is organized by WAO in association with the Global Alliance Against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD), a program of the World Health Organization (WHO), and focuses on Chronic Allergic Respiratory Diseases. World Allergy Day will be celebrated during World Allergy Congress, Bangkok, Thailand. Major activities will include a press conference on '‘The State of World Allergy: A Report from the World Allergy Organization' and a World Allergy Day Symposium.

WAO Long-Term Research Fellowship 2008 Congratulations to Liliana Cifuentes from Cartagena, Colombia, who has been awarded the 2008 WAO Long-Term Research Fellowship! Dr. Cifuentes will study Genetic Risk Factors for Atopy and Atopic Diseases - A Genomewide Approach, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Med. Dr. Phil. Johannes Ring at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Technische Universität München, Germany. Competition for the 2008 Fellowship was very strong. Seven excellent applications were received covering a wide range of topics within WAO's Research priorities. WAO congratulates all the applicants on the quality of the applications submitted.
