Emerging Societies Program

A major role of WAO is to disseminate information and to share experiences about new treatments for allergic disease and about new indications for available therapies, as we look towards developments that will enable allergists to better serve patients in future. The Emerging Societies Meetings are structured to enable new and emerging allergy societies to interface with the World Allergy Organization, and to help them develop their society in a way which will make it compatible with WAO's Membership Criteria. WAO wishes to outreach to its National Member Societies and to emerging societies in various regions to promote education in allergy and to assist societies in the promotion and development of the specialty of allergy. The program enables the World Allergy Organization's leadership to learn more about the challenges faced in countries where the specialty of allergy is either non-existent, or is developing, and how the Organization can best assist these efforts.

Pollen Traps

The loan of the Burkard pollen traps is part of an initiative of the WAO Emerging Societies program in the Asian region, where it was recognized that identification of local pollens would be of major importance to the development of the specialty of clinical allergy in the region.
