Junior Members News - April 2011
By Matteo Bonini, MD
As it has been announced, the new WAO Junior Members Group has been created. This exciting initiative, overseen by the WAO Board of Directors and Specialty and Training Council, is aimed at supporting and promoting the participation of young clinicians and scientists in the activities of WAO as well as providing them with opportunities for global networking and other interaction.
Having the opportunity to be involved in the WAO Junior Members Group Steering Committee, which was formed for developing this project, I can appreciate the enthusiasm and commitment behind this innovative group. I’m certain it will present a unique platform for the youngest WAO members themselves to plan and implement ideas while developing a pathway for potential future leaders in the field of Allergy/Clinical Immunology. As a former WAO fellowship recipient, I’m especially confident that the development of the WAO Junior Members Group will allow the creation of a global network of collaboration, science and friendship. The criteria for membership and description of the many advantages of becoming a WAO Junior Member are outlined on the dedicated page of our website (www.worldallergy.org/juniormembers/).
I strongly encourage my fellow junior colleagues to join the group, as well as request WAO leaders to spread the message to their most promising young collaborators. I look forward to the active participation of all WAO Junior Members in the initiatives that will be planned on the occasion of the XXII World Allergy Congress (www.worldallergy.org/wac2011/).
