Brazilian Society of Allergy and Immunology (ASBAI)
The Brazilian Society of Allergy and Immunology celebrated World Allergy Week by having educational activities, games and music for adults and children on Monday, 7 April 2014 at Patins Park at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Czech Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (CSAKI)
The Czech Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (CSAKI) promoted World Allergy Week via a press conference on 22 April and promotion of the logo on their website.
Egyptian Society of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology (ESPAI)
The Egyptian Society of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology (ESPAI) brought awareness to World Allergy Week 2014 by holding a workshop for the public on Sunday, 13 April 2014. View flyer.
German Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology
The German Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology held a conference on anaphylaxis in Berlin with Prof Margitta Worm. They had "Guidelines for acute treatment and management of anaphylaxis” recently appeared in Allergo-Journal International.
Korean Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology (KAAACI)
The Korean Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology distributed World Allergy Week 2014 posters to 1,400 KAACI Members, 1,600 Korean Pediatric Allergy and Respiratory Diseases (KAPARD) members, as well as to the Media. KAACI advertised World Allergy Week 2014 on their homepage, Facebook, Twitter, Blog, and provided a press release to 20 newspapers. Educational Lectures were performed at various hospitals and institutions.
Lebanese Society of Allergy and Immunology
The Lebanese Society of Allergy and Immunology reached out to multiple media platforms resulting in widespread coverage by various press, radio, and TV outlets. Educational posters and flyers were displayed in local hospitals.
Mongolian Society of Allergology (MSA)
The Mongolian Society of Allergy engaged with a wide range of educational activities including training seminars for specialists, CME lectures for primary care doctors, and a training seminar for patients and parents of allergic children.
Polish Society of Allergology (PSA)
The Polish Society of Allergology took an active part in this initiative by organizing a Week of Education on Anaphylaxis from 24 to 28 March as part of their national campaign, Prepare Yourself to the Shock! During this week patients could consult health problems in over 150 health centers all over Poland. Also representatives from their society took part in many TV and radio programs about anaphylaxis.
Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA)
The Allergy Society of South Africa engaged in wide public relations activities for media outreach and ALLSA members have been interviewed for radio programs on the major stations.
Spanish Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SEAIC)
The Spanish Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology distributed a press release on anaphylaxis as well as reached out to newspapers and online media. SEAIC also provided resources on their Twitter and YouTube.
Turkish National Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology
Turkish National Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology celebrated World Allergy Week by holding a workshop in several clinics around Turkey on Wednesday, 9 April 2014.
Patient Advocacy Activities
Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE)
FARE hosted a free educational webinar, The Epidemiology of Food Allergies with speaker Ruchi Gupta, MD, MPH. The webinar touched on the epidemiology of food allergies, statistics on how many people have food allergies, the characteristics of those who may be at higher risk and data on the impact of food allergies on families.
University of Santo Tomas (Philippines)
The University of Santo Tomas Hospital Section of Allergy and Immunology hosted an "AnaphylaQUIZ" show on April 10, 2014 to raise awareness and impart knowledge on anaphylaxis. "AnaphylaQUIZ" is a quiz contest participated by fourth year medical students, interns and pediatric residents with questions regarding the diagnosis, management, and prevention of anaphylaxis. The participants were divided into five teams based on the commonly encountered allergens, namely: penicillin, peanut, egg, crab, and shrimp.
Professor Motohiro Ebisawa was interviewed by Brynn Hadler from AllergyBytes1 about anaphylaxis symptoms and administering epinephrine. AllergyBytes1 is a YouTube channel focusing on Allergy for patients and parents of children with allergies.
