Allergic disorders are increasing in frequency around the world, and while the mechanisms involved remain an active area of research, it appears that both genetic and environmental factors contribute to this phenomenon. Knowledge about allergic diseases has been furthered by biotechnology and computational tools, and all professionals involved in research into allergic mechanisms need to be well versed in them.

The first edition of this book provides an overview of basic topics in the immunological mechanisms involved in the development of allergic diseases.
