Session Descriptions

The 2011 World Allergy Congress will offer delegates educational opportunities in many different formats.

Breakfast Symposium (Pre-Registration Required)
Breakfast Symposia will consist of small, interactive sessions that will be led by two or three expert presenters. Breakfast Symposia are scheduled for 75 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December. Pre-registration is required and requires an additional fee of $20 USD.

Company Sponsored Symposium and Dinner Symposium
Company Sponsored Symposia and Dinner Symposia are organized in partnership with industry to present educational sessions. Company Sponsored Symposia will take place for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December. The Dinner Symposia will take place in the evening on 5 and 6 December.

Debate
Debates feature two presenters who will provide opposing views on controversial topics. Debates are scheduled for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December.

Sister Society Session
Sister Society Sessions are proposed by WAO Member Societies. Selection process is competitive and the sessions are programmed as Symposia, Workshops or Breakfast Symposia. Sister Society Sessions are scheduled on the 5, 6 and 7 of December.

New Horizon Session
New Horizon Sessions are the bookend sessions of the Congress. These sessions are designed to showcase the latest science in allergy, asthma and clinical immunology. The sessions will include premier presenters in the field. New Horizons Sessions are scheduled as either half-day or full-day sessions on 4 and 8 December.

Oral Abstract Session
These sessions will feature oral presentations from selected abstracts related to the submitting investigator’s research. Oral Abstract Sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December. Boxed lunches will be provided for all delegates in attendance.

Plenary Session
Plenary Sessions are the premier educational sessions of the meeting, presenting topics in didactic format to delegates. The presenters of the Plenary Sessions are top experts in their field. Plenary Sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December.

Poster Session
Poster Sessions will feature the accepted abstracts and the posters will be displayed from 5-7 December. Poster Sessions are scheduled for two hours on 5, 6 and 7 December. Boxed lunches will be provided for all delegates in attendance.

Collaborating Partner Session
Collaborating Partner Sessions are proposed by invited WAO affiliated organizations. The selection process is competitive and the sessions are programmed as Symposia or Workshops. Collaborating Partner Sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes on the 5, 6 and 7 of December.

Symposium
Symposia are didactic sessions and will present topics of specific interest. Symposia are scheduled for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December.

University Training Program Session
University Training Program Sessions are proposed and developed by universities and institutions around the world. The selection process is competitive and the sessions are programmed as Symposia, Workshops or Breakfast Symposia. University Training Programs are scheduled on the 5, 6 and 7 of December.

Workshops (Pre-Registration Required)
Workshops will be either interactive or didactic. These sessions are smaller and aimed towards audience participation. Workshops are scheduled for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December.

Year-in-Review Session
Year-in-Review Sessions are didactic presentations reviewing the latest information published on specific topics. Year-in-Review Sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes on 5, 6 and 7 December.
