Tari Haahtela, MD, PhD
Tari Haahtela is professor emeritus at Helsinki University, Finland. He is a specialist in Pulmonary Medicine and Clinical Allergology. He is Chairman of the Finnish Asthma Programme 1994-2004 and the ongoing Allergy Programme 2008-2108, and responsible of the Finnish Centre in the EU-funded GA2LEN - and MeDALL projects. He is a Board Member of Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) and World Allergy Organization (WAO). His research interests are early stages of asthma and allergy as well as their environmental determinants. He is leading the Karelia Allergy Research Programme, which has given new insight to the origin of allergies.
