Group Activities-
The purpose of the Asthma Society,
founded in 1973, is to provide information, support and reassurance to
people with asthma and their families
- to act as advocate/representative for
them, and to promote awareness and understanding of the condition
amongst the general public
- Among its services is the Asthma Live
Line, a telephone helpline service staffed by specialist asthma nurses
- The Asthma Society promotes medical
research into asthma and campaigns for improved statutory entitlements
for adults and children with asthma
- Promotes, also, an extension on the ban
of bituminous coal to larger centres around Ireland
- The Society aims for a situation where
people with asthma can realise their full potential and not be at a
disadvantage, health-wise, socially or financially.
