Greetings from the World Allergy Organization,

As we prepare for the upcoming WAO meetings to take place this month during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), we also have begun to implement plans for World Allergy Week 2013 (8-14 April).

Last year, WAO discussed the theme of the "Rising global burden of allergic diseases and asthma" and promoted a multi-disciplinary, integrated approach to addressing the challenges. This year WAO has selected the theme of Food Allergy – A Rising Global Health Problem, for similar reasons.

World Allergy Week 2013 Coming in April!

World Allergy Week 2013 will take place 8-14 April and focus on the theme of Food Allergy – A Rising Global Health Problem. WAO will again provide resources for its Member Societies to access online for use in their outreach activities. Continue to visit www.worldallergyweek.org for updates.

Editor-in-Chief, World Allergy Organization Journal

The World Allergy Organization is accepting applications and nominations for Editor-in-Chief of the World Allergy Organization Journal. The newly appointed Editor-in-Chief will work in this transition year with the current Editor-in-Chief, assuming full responsibility for the role on 1 January 2014. Candidates must be practicing allergists/immunologists and an individual member of a WAO Member Society with experience on the editorial board of a scholarly medical journal. For more information, please contact the WAO Journal Editorial Office by email. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2013.

The WAO Henning Lowenstein Research Award
The WAO Henning Løwenstein Research Award is a biennial award given to a young scientist who has shown excellence within the field of allergy. The winner will receive € 10,000 and will be offered a travel grant to attend the EAACI-WAO World Allergy & Asthma Congress in Milan, Italy, 22-26 June, 2013.
