WAO President Prof. Ruby Pawankar Named Fellow of Royal College of Physicians
Congratulations to WAO President Prof. Ruby Pawankar (pictured right) for her appointment as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. This Fellowship is the highest level of membership of the Royal College of Physicians and is only made to outstanding individuals.
On Thursday, 25 July 2013, the Royal College held an official ceremony honoring Prof. Pawankar. WAO Board member Prof. Stephen Holgate (pictured left), said that Prof. Pawankar is “a clinical scientist with extraordinary enthusiasm and commitment to her discipline on the world stage, she has worked tirelessly to drive forward high quality evidenced-based care in a field of increasing trends worldwide” in his citation during the ceremony.

Central American and Caribbean XII Congress
7-10 August 2013

The Emerging Societies Program (ESP), along with Guatemalan Association of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology, hosted two WAO speakers at the Central American and Caribbean XII Congress held in Guatemala City, 7-10 August.
Dr. Lanny Rosenwasser lectured on “Interrelation between Innate Immunity and the Activation of T cells in Allergic Disease" and “Small Airways Disease: Pathogenesis to Particle Deposition for Treatment”. Dr. Dana Wallace spoke on “Anaphylaxis: Causes, Diagnosis and Treatment” and “Asthma vs COPD for the Clinician”. Thank you to both Dr. Rosenwasser and Dr. Wallace for making this meeting a great success!
