Junior Member News - July 2016

The 2016 EAACI annual congress, recently held in Wien, Austria, provided the opportunity for a well-participated and fruitful Business Meeting of the WAO JMs Steering Group.

WAO JMs Group is very young, nevertheless it is rapidly growing up in terms of projects, visibility and contributions to WAO activities. For this reason some major issues of utmost importance for WAO JMs identity and future have been discussed in Wien.

The WAO Junior Member Group Policies and Procedures document is going to be finalized and circulated. It will serve as reference document for the JMs Steering Group structure and aims, such as the geographic and specialty representation within the Group.

In order to strengthen the collaboration between JMs and the Organization, it has been approved that each of the WAO scientific committees will include at least one JM Representative from the Steering Group. It will support an easier interaction between Seniors and Juniors within the Organization and the development of shared projects.

A brief update has been provided on the ongoing activities.

The EAACI, WAO, and AAAAI joint survey on JMs training and job opportunities has been closed and a large amount of data has been collected. The results will be discussed with all the involved Academies’ Representatives and a publication strategy will be developed.

WAO Junior Members will begin participating in the “Ask the World Expert” feature on WAO website. It works as a place for asking allergy-related questions to other allergists and receiving responses with references.

Some new interesting projects and activities, trying to involve all the WAO JMs, have been proposed. Also, the Group would like to increase its visibility through Twitter and Facebook. So please just stay tuned on WAO website JMs pages and social media for all the news!

The upcoming WISC 2016, which will be held in Jerusalem, will provide a new wonderful opportunity for all the WAO JMs to meet. Some Practical Courses and a Scientific Symposium specifically devoted to JMs have been already scheduled, so please stay tuned with the abstract submission and all the deadlines, and do not miss the opportunity of a great worldwide meeting!!
