Junior Member News - January 2017

WISC2016 Jerusalem was my first WAO meeting...

I am coming from developing country and WAO travel grant gave me a unique and excellent opportunity to participate for the first time at WAO scientific conference this year in Jerusalem, Israel. WISC2016 Jerusalem attracted over 800 participants from all over the world at one place to share and exchange their ideas in the field of allergy and clinical immunology.  Junior Members from different countries had an excellent opportunity to participate not only at the plenary lectures and symposiums but as well as to take part actively in creating and holding practical courses and one symposium. Practical courses were of particular importance as time for sharing experiences between representatives from a great variety of countries all over the world. In a friendly atmosphere, the WAO JM demonstrated their practical skills as speakers and instructors in hands-on sessions and technology demonstration of important topics such as treatment of anaphylaxis, oral food challenges, from treatment to the diagnosis of allergic diseases.  Every practical course was also under the supervision of one of the senior experts in the certain field.

Many abstracts have been also submitted by juniors and presented during the poster session in the Exhibition Hall. WAO experts evaluated the submitted abstracts and those that were outstanding received acknowledgments and awards. Around 30 WAO junior members from all part of the world received WAO Travel Grants that gave them an excellent opportunity to be part of such a great event.

WAO JM business meeting was held on the second day of the Congress and the main topics were mainly dedicated to the raise of the awareness of the importance of WAO JM group.

WISC2016 was a great chance for me to exchange experiences, update the knowledge and network! I would like once more to say  thank you all for the support and excellent time we have spent together in Jerusalem, not only at the congress but also during the free time.
