Junior Member News - May 2018

Dear Colleagues,

The WAO Junior Members (JM) steering committee was created eight years ago and our WAO JM family now includes over 700 members which are represented by this committee. I would like to welcome all the new members into this energetic and young steering committee of WAO*.

Senior Advisor, Luciana Kase Tanno (Brazil/France)

I would like to thank the marvelous work that both Razvigor Darlenski (Past Chair) and Marco Caminati (Past Co-Chair) performed for the committee in the last two years.

We had our first business meeting during the joint annual meeting between WAO and the American, Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) in Orlando, Florida (Picture). During the meeting several points were discussed including the successful collaborative activities between WAO JMs, fellows in training (FITs), and the New Allergy/Immunologists Assembly members (NAIA) from AAAAI. Several of our committee members have initiated a number of proposals and projects that will increase knowledge in our field. We will continue with practical courses held by junior members of WAO with a senior WAO member during the upcoming 2018 WISC in Florence and a WAO junior member Symposium. We will keep all junior members updated as the topics for the symposium and practical courses are finalized. Registration and abstract submission are now open for WISC 2018.

As we prepare for the upcoming WAO JM steering group business meeting during the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) annual meeting in Munich, Germany, we hope to carry on the collaboration with our sister societies including the EAACI in on-going and future projects. If you are unable to attend the meeting you can always follow the #EAACI2018 and @WAOJM on Twitter to keep up with updates.

I would like to invite each of you to get involved with WAO this year (WAO JM registration is free). You may always contact your local regional representatives or follows us on Twitter or Facebook. Manuel and I are always open to suggestions.

We hope all JMs will enjoy Munich.
