Meet Your WAO Leaders

Lanny J. Rosenwasser, MD
Past-President, World Allergy Organization
Professor of Medicine, Allergy/Immunology
University of Missouri - Kansas City
Kansas City, Missouri, USA
Member Society: American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology

What inspired you to become more involved in WAO?
After being involved with the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology for 12 years it seemed like a natural progression in my career to become more involved with WAO.

What would you like to share about the work of your national member society?
From clinical work to translational research, AAAAI is a leader in the United States and internationally. In addition to that, AAAAI provides opportunities to lead in all aspects of research in allergy and clinical immunology. I was proud to be President of AAAAI in 2003. My leadership roles there allowed me to grow in allergy and become part of WAO.

What is one of your current special interests in the field of allergy/immunology?
I have an investigative interest. I am interested in cytokines, genetics of allergic disease, and dermatitis.

Do you have any recent publications to share?
Linkage and Genetic Association in Severe Asthma
Eosinophilic bioactivities in severe asthma
