What inspired you to become involved in WAO?
My best inspiration was working many years with a leader like Professor Carlos Baena-Cagnani. I discovered the close relationship between our specialties - allergology and my field, otorhinolaryngology. A strong commitment to expanding the awareness of this organization is probably the most important reason for increasing my interest in the activities of WAO, directly and also through the activities of SLaai, the Latin American Society of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.
What would you like to share about the work of your national member societies?
There are two associations in my country that are working with WAO: Argentine Association of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (AAAeIC) and Argentine Society of Allergy and Immunopathology (SAAeI). Both institutions have important activities to improve the quality of knowledge for our colleagues and increase our capacity as specialists. As well, both institutions participate in educational events with the general public to work toward prevention of allergies.
What is one of your current interests in the field of allergy/clinical immunology?
As an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist I am involved in rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, laryngitis (and asthma-related laryngitis) and currently otitis media with effusion and its relationship with atopy.
Please share two of your most recent publications.
