What inspired you to become involved in WAO?

I had the opportunity to participate in the organizing of the XVI International Congress of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (ICACI) in 1997 and afterwards in the XXII World Allergy Congress (WAC) both held in Cancún, México, first as local organizer and after as President of the Mexican College of Pediatricians Specialized in Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CoMPEDIA). These events gave me the opportunity to learn more about the World Allergy Organization and its educational outreach programs around the globe.

What would you like to share about the work of your national member societies?

In México, both of the national allergy and clinical immunology societies, CoMPEDIA and CMICA, work together in educational programs, symposia, national meetings and lectureships provided to any health care provider interested in the fields of allergy and clinical immunology, as well as to patients, families and the general population affected by these diseases.

What is one of your current interests in the field of allergy/clinical immunology?

I am especially interested in the pathophysiology of allergic diseases, as well as other clinical immunology ailments as primary immunodeficiencies and autoimmune disorders.
