President's Message
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It has been an honor and privilege to be the President of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) for the past two years. During this time, I was fortunate to see the great impact WAO makes throughout the world through involvement with the World Allergy Training Schools (WATS), participating as speakers in various scientific programs, and organizing meetings. >>Read More...

Luo Zhang, MD, PhD
Professor, Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery
Department of Allergy
Vice President, Beijing TongRen Hospital
Director, Beijing Institute of Otolaryngology
Beijing, China
President, Chinese Society of Allergology
What inspired you to become more involved in the World Allergy Organization (WAO)?
China has the largest population in the world, with an increasing number of patients with allergic diseases. Chinese healthcare workers in the area need to learn the cutting edge knowledge of allergy. As a member of the WAO Board of Directors, I am able to connect WAO and its activities with the Chinese Society of Allergology.
What would you like to share about the work of your national member society?
In general, the prevalence of allergic disease is increasing with growing social burdens. As the president of the Chinese Society of Allergology, I am uniting doctors from different specialties to provide better healthcare to our patients.
What is one of your special interests in the field of allergy/immunology?
My work has focused on the pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis; the regulation of airway ciliary activity; mechanisms of specific-allergen immunotherapy of allergic rhinitis; and surgical techniques of endoscopic sinus surgery.
Please provide any recent publications you would like to share.
