The Charité is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. Doctors and scientists are performing research, healing and teaching at the highest international level. More than half of the German Nobel laureates for medicine and physiology come from the Charité, among them Emil von Behring, Robert Koch and Paul Ehrlich. Worldwide, the University Hospital is valued as an excellent educational institution. The Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin is the joint medical faculty of the Free University of Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin. Spread over four locations, the Charité is home to around 100 clinics and institutes, which are concentrated in 17 Charité-Centers. With 13,200 employees, the Charité generates 1.6 billion euros in total income per year, making it one of the largest employers in Berlin. With subsidiaries, the Charité has 17,100 employees. In 2010, the Charité could look back on a 300-year history.
Comprehensive Allergy Center Charité
The Comprehensive Allergy Center Charité has been certified according to the rules of the national German initiative led by the DGAKI. We have made it our mission as a reference center to not only offer advanced medical care at highest level, but also to employ all possibilities translational and clinical research offers to ensure our patients receive cutting edge medical care and treatment. Furthermore, there is a close network with practicing physicians. We offer regular scientific programs for medical practitioners, as well as information sessions for patients, to ensure the transfer of knowledge as efficiently as possible.
With the establishment of this interdisciplinary center, experimental and clinical research on allergies of the various disciplines has become a true team effort.
