The Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA) held a World Allergy Training School (WATS) in Cape Town on 13 August during their annual congress.
WATS is part of the World Allergy Organization’s (WAO) Emerging Societies Program (ESP), with the objective to develop learning communities appropriate to a specific regional context while strengthening existing knowledge and skills for treating all allergic diseases. The WATS are made possible through the support of WAO and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI).
The international WATS faculty included allergy experts from the United States, Egypt, and Kenya. Dr. Dana Wallace and Dr. David Stukus (United States), Dr. Elizabeth Kiragu and Dr. Evelyn Ng'ang'a (Kenya), and Elham Hossny (Egypt) participated in this WATS alongside the local organizers from the ALLSA, Prof. Jonny Peter and Prof. Michael Levin.
