Description: The Medical University of Vienna (MUV) is home of a multidisciplinary allergy research program "Towards prevention and therapy of allergy" (http://www.allergy-research-program.at/cms) which comprises more than 10 research groups in the field of molecular, cellular and clinical allergology.
For more than 30 years, the major focus of research of MUV has been the development of diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive approaches for allergy based on the knowledge of the structures of the disease-causing allergens. In addition, MUV has established an international PhD program "Molecular, cellular and clinical allergology" MCCA (http://www.phd-mcca.at) which aims to educate the most talented students in the field of molecular, cellular and clinical allergology.
Both, the research program and the MUV is also a leader in clinical care comprising all fields of allergy (Allergy, Immunology, Diagnostics: Prof. Rudolf Valenta, ENT: Prof. Verena Niederberger, Dermatology: Prof. Georg Stingl, Gastroenterology: Prof. Michael Trauner, Pediatric allergy: Prof. Zsolt Szepfalusi, Pulmology: Prof. Marco Idzko). Moreover, MUV is a center for international post graduate teaching in the field of allergy with a focus on molecular allergology (http://www.inunimai.org/cms/).
In 2017 MUV has been ranked by the Center for World University Rankings (SWUR) number 7 in the field of Allergology worldwide (http://cwur.org/2017/subjects.php#Allergy).
