Since 1976, Osaka Habikino Medical Center as a central hospital has been taking care of patients with allergic diseases, including asthma, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, food allergy, and anaphylaxis.
In 2018, more than ten thousand allergic patients presented to our hospital. In addition to clinical care, the hospital has actively participated in the development of public policies on allergic diseases through continuous work with the community and patient associations, and has provided educational programs for medical students, residents, nurses, pharmacists and nutritionists, who would specialize in care for allergic patients.
In 2011, the research center, “Atopy and Allergy Center” was set up to facilitate the more intense cooperation in the clinical care among clinical departments and co-medical staffs, and to accelerate translational and clinical research in allergy and clinical immunology. In particular, the center has performed various achievements, which led to the development of targeting strategy against cytokines for allergic and immune-mediated diseases.
The primary members of Osaka Habikino Medical Center have also contributed to create the Japanese guidelines for the management and therapy for atopic dermatitis and child asthma. In addition, to intensify and accelerate multidisciplinary scientific and clinical innovations, AAC is working to develop further educational programs on translational research.
In accordance with the purpose of the WAO Centers of Excellence, we would be grateful if our hospital would contribute to intensify and accelerate multidisciplinary scientific and clinical innovation, education, and advocacy worldwide providing excellence in education, research, and training to various stakeholders in allergy, asthma and clinical immunology.
